You can select any of the languages included in FDM by clicking on :

View>Language>click on the name of the language

It seems that the developers of FDM do indeed update the Language Pack from time to time. Today I discovered a relatively recent translation made by me (probably for FDM 2.3 beta 3) inside the pack (but on the download page of FDM the translations are old).

So those that translate FDM should also send a copy of the translation to the e-mail address specified at the beginning of the language file. It will eventually be included in the Language Pack.

Thanks alot!!!!

I think I will create a site and host it myself if they don't want to add it in the bundle

Well, I can't offer you much advice on how to get the attention of the FDM developers so they host the translation on their site. Ideally they should take your translation and include it in the MultiLanguage Pack and also host it in the page with the downloads ( freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm ). But in fact the translations present in the pack and on the page are very old. I have sent my translations to the developers and they included one in the pack but not the subsequent versions. And on the page with downloads the romanian translation is for FDM 2.0, that was launched two years ago.Probably the developers don't have the time to keep the language pack and page updated.

So it is better that you host the afrikaans translation yourself and create a thread in the Translations section of the FDM forum were you will post the address from where it can be downloaded. Then each time you will update the translation you post in the thread. There are a lot of free hosts, but I recommend bravehost.com that is very reliable.

Of course if you are passionate about the afrikaans language you can create a site dedicated to translations of software in that language.

Thanks Alot. One more question. When I'm done (which won't be now, got 3 programs to translate.) where do I send it or should I paste a link and host the file?

You install the latest beta of FDM from the Download section of the site then make a copy of the file "eng.lng" (that you will find after the installation in the "lang" subfolder of FDM) and rename the copy to "afr.lng". Put the copy in the same folder as "eng.lng".

Open "afr.lng" in a text editor, for example in EditPad Lite (search it with Google) that is free and begin translating all the strings of text that do not have the ; sign in front of them. You can check your work at any time by switching from english to afrikaans and back from the menu View > Language .

Hello there,

How can I translate a language for FDM?

I would very much like to translate the Afrikaans language for FDM and host the Afrikaans language file for the world.

My question is, hod do I translate it? Can I get a word list, or do I use an application or what?
