I think such "check for update" is necessary though it won't work work every time, it will still work sometimes I like this function in FlashGet

I agree also.
I've been a GetRight user for over 13 years.
With slow Internet (dialup, then satellite) it was essential that I didn't waste bandwidth downloading the same file twice.
GetRight gave me the Date (and size) at least 80% of the time for files I checked.
I really like FDM, but I still use GetRight to check the Date!

Hey I'm all for a better solution and again "very little use" it's subjective, look at how many people are asking for such a feature (and keep in mind that for every person who's bothering to write here making a request there are many more looking for the same feature) Also I was thinking that at this point the effort to implement it / usefulness ratio it's very good

I am only trying to explain that comparing date stamps and file sizes is not a good way to be really informed about all updates. So why to implement option of very little use?

The most common usage is to use the same location for the file e.g Skype, Avast, Avira, PerfectDisk ... and many other Anyway I don't see why so much fuss about adding a query for the date too since the command / function already exist for the size ?

Can't you see you will be checking the same version 3.0.852 forever? You will never find any newer version because they will be in different folders, see: http://sourceforge.net/projects/freedow ... 20Manager/ And in most cases there are not only folders with numbers there, filenames also contain version number or date stamp. Try to check another projects: sevenzip (archiver), dejavu (fonts), ffdshow-tryout (codecs), etc.

Please add Date to the "Query size" for people to know if a new version of the file which are trying to download is available (and don't waste bandwidth downloading the same version) A very good example of this feature exist in Getright
