Hello FDM architects,

Its fantastic that FDM supports downloading in multiple section (Right click on download item, Advanced > Create one more section). I have used it when server limits download speed. Creating more section generally speeds up the download.

In my usage example, download usually starts slow, so I create a second (sometimes more) section.
When I see download speed reaching my connection limit, I usually would like to stop the second (or last when more than two sections).

In such cases, when I go to Advanced > Stop a section, I have never seen FDM stopping the last section. It always somehow finds sections in the middle and regrettable the first section to stop. Now that's counter-intuitive when trying to download media files. You can't view it as download progresses.

On the other hand, if FDM would let me choose which section I can stop, I would gladly stop the last one created. Thus allowing bandwidth to go to the first section. Then over time, as the first section gets enough data downloaded, I can play the media as it continues downloading.

I do not know if there is already a way to do this. I have played around with the settings and found none. Also searching for "stop a section" or "stop desired section" have not produced relevant results for me.

Please let me know what you think.

Sincerely,
tcf

A built in Adobe HDS Downloader would be good where it downloads and joins all SEGS on the fly of a HDS video.

HDS at the moment uses an annoying php download script that has trouble working on a Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS at least on my internet setup anyway.

Getting the script to work in FDM is maybe a bit of a task but it will make it the best HDS video downloader if it's possible to convert the php script into a FDM download type.

Hi there

I'm using FDM for a long time and satisfy. FDM is one of the bests free download managers around.
There is just one thing which I'll glad if you add to FDM. Sadly FDM can't download Yahoo videos. If possible support Yahoo website and Yahoo videos as well.

Thanks for taking the time

Please also add a dig down level to find the actual media file as nowadays actual file link hides in 3rd file referred by 2nd file referred by web page/js.

Dear FDM Team,

today saw ver. 5 Alpha... I would like to request few major changes,

Proxy
1 - show the under use Proxy IP in Download info. for big files of .pac (in IE) mostly used in offices and don't know which proxy being used.. so by knowing this, people can directly fix a speedy proxy.

Web Sniffer
1 - Please add a Sniffer like we have in Orbit+, URL Snooper, Net Transport. This is a great deal because sometimes media links are not captured (no Download it appears). We can select the file from sniffer and download easily. or any other image or component.. please accept this.

Protocol
1 - Recently I tried to download a video from Playwire com and FDM was helpless, it was using RTMP .. mp4 file mentioned inside xml file which was being direct by .js file from web page.

Browser:
add maxthon support

Regards,

Can you make a support of command prompt start-stop commands? For example: you run command "fdm.exe -startall", and application automatically starts downlads, available in list.

Hi,
I'd like to see a button on the add download screen that allows you to auto add the file type or website to the skip list
If I do a fresh install with FDM, I'd like to just hit a button as I download items, if I don't want them to be picked up by FDM in the future (e.g. PDF, Word docs, etc etc), rather than having to go into the options every time I need to add an extension or website I forgot.

I had no idea this subject was so complex.....I just got a new computer and I have to upload all the files and programs I use in my business. That is why I looked for the downloader.

But this thread is incredible. I don't even understand half of the questions, lol.

I thought I would find a thread or threads about great downloads of great programs. We have a thread on the warrior forum that lists the most wonderful and free programs that are available for Internet Marketers. It always needs updating so is a very interesting thread to look at each day.

I expected to find like a super list here for downloadable programs that people are using in their day to day life. Like those single use Adobe Photoshop downloads. You get to use the program for a certain period of time and then if you are not done you pay for more time. Seemed fabulous to me.

So I don't see very much of that kind of discussion, or lists of favorite downloads. But this forum is bursting with very valuable information. Great discussions, on behalf of everyone who reads these threads, thanks for giving of your time and expertise all for free.
