Users who uses AOL ISP please tell us if FDM works without problems with AOL.

Should users of previous versions uninstall them first, or is upgrading fine?

I am curious of the changes, I mean did FDM not support RS login method (some claimed it worked) or some other communication problem?

That is also stumping me. Is there a command line switch to turn on portable mode? I've looked through every possible option in the 2.3 beta and I can't seem to find anything.

The only option refering to portable mode in a way is the option to choose an alternative Data path.
Unfortunately the files stored in the data path do not include the configuration of FDM itself.

I guess there's still some .ini file usage neccessary to have a real portable FDM.
Maybe that's not implemented yet in this beta version.

This ini should contain the values usually stored in the registry. If this ini exists in the FDM folder, portable mode should be used as default, if not, use the registry values.

Another thing neccessary for portable mode, which seems not to be implemented yet:
The Base path for downloaded files needs to be a relative (not absolute path). Usage of environment variables in the base path would also be quite comfortable (like %TEMP% or %APPDATA%)

Just copy all files from FDM's installation folder to your flash disk (or portable hdd) and it will be ready to use on another computer.
All data will be saved in the Data subfolder.

@alex
I tried as you said.

It's a bit tricky.

The settings i've changed on my normal PC where FDM is installed didn't make it to the settings.dat file in the FDM\Data folder. So copying my FDM folder to a virgin PC didn't restore my settings there after starting FDM.

So I've completely set up FDM there again which finally resulted in the settings.dat file created in the FDM\Data folder. This seems ready to be portable now.

Minor issue: The group's root folder is still an absolute path, not a relative one. So when using Portable FDM on another FDM-less PC, the root folder needs to be set again.

Excellent changes!

I would like to exclude NZB files, and just let IE download them. How is that done? I've checked every option 2-3 times, and can't find it.

Thanks,,,
