Good day

I have just start using Free Download Manager and are only able to download 2 downloads at the same time while the others wait. Can you download more that 2 downloads at the same time and where do you set this?

Regards

1. Use FDM menu Options | Settings | Downloads | New download and click "Advanced" button.
2. Use FDM menu Options | Settings | Downloads | Network.
3. Read other topics about network management, please.
I can't help you more if you don't want to name your FDM version.

I am also faced with the same problem.

I tried FDMs ver. 3.8 Build 1173, 3.9 RC1 Build 1194, and ver. 3.7 on Windows7Professional(32bit). However, I cannot download up to 2 downloads.

I tried changing network options described above too.

On FDM 3.5 RC build 954, I'm not faced with no problem.

I'm using FDM on FireFox 10.0.2 and FlashGot plugin (I'm not using FDM Browser integration), and using FDM to download selected imagess in a page.

What exactly have you tried? I suspect you haven't read all the topics that I advised.
You should use FDM menu Options | Settings | Downloads | Network and choose your own manual settings for connection speed. Only then you can change settings for traffic usage modes and section number in FDM menu Options | Settings | Downloads | New download after clicking "Advanced" button.

Don't forget that many sites use their own connection limits and you cannot change it even if your FDM settings allow to use many connections and sections per server.

Network management in FDM has been changed in FDM 3.8 build 1142. With automatic networking management FDM needs now about minute to determine connection speed and open more connections (create more download sections) if it's possible.

At first, I upgraded FDM ver.3.5 to 3.8 (without uninstalling). FDM could not download 2 or more items at the time.

1. Then I changed options in "Settings->Network" dialog.
Connection speed: 10MB/s.
Settings for traffic usage modes: Heavy mode.
Maximum number of connections: Set to 2
Maximum number of connections per one server: Set to 2.
Maximum number of running downloads: Set to 2

2. I checked that traffic usage mode is heavy mode in the menu "Options->Traffic usage mode".

However, FDM downloads only 1 item at the time as usual.

3. I checked "Downloads->New Download->Advanced" but I cannot find any cause about the number of downloads and I didn't change any options.
(Before, I have tried to check "Connection->Ignore all restrictions" and "Proxy->Get proxy settigs->Don't use any proxy", but the situation does not changed)

It also might be one of the causes.

What that new version would not work unless determining connection speed automatically?
If so I try to continue to use new FDM for a while.

Thank you Usher.

I found the reason.

This was the cause.
I tried to download from other sites, then, new FDM could download more than 2 items.

In the old FDM version, if simultaneous download was possible, I was convinced that simultaneous download is possible also of a higher FDM version at the same site.

Thank you.

I'm using 3.0.852 on WinXP (and a lot of older versions over the years) and actual on W7 (both x86) and seldom had some problems. Even with 4 or more parallel downloads from one or different servers.

Some days ago (11.03.2012) I upgraded to 3.8.1173 and had permanent problems for more than 1 download at the same time. 1st I thought, that this is a usual problem with my bad provider, but today I found this thread and switched back to 3.0.852 and the parallel download works perfect, however with a lower rate due to the limited bandwith.

w/ 3.8.1173 all but the 1st download shut down every 5-10 seconds, reinits loads with (lower rate) and switch off again.

I know how to use the option...\downloads\network\... It doesn't help!

PS. this bug is shown also with downloads from total different servers with total different files.
