Use GPS without GPS receiver! Try this advanced GPS device simulator (virtual GPS receiver). It can be used for development purposes or for testing GPS software before buying. Generates NMEA messages from different data inputs (map or file). Generated NMEA data can be used by mapping or other GPS enabled software . GPS simulator can be helpful not only for software developers, but also for users, who want to learn navigation software before buying GPS receiver.
This virtual GPS receiver can operate without GPS satellites visible and therefore it can be more effective than hardware GPS receiver indoor. Virtual COM port software (virtual null-modem) can be found on web site http://avangardo.com/com.
The "pro" (professional) version of the "GPS Generator" has some advanced features:
* It supports not only *.shp files (ESRI shape files), but also *.mif files (MapInfo exchange) as a map layer;
* Altitude value can be changed;
* The satellites constellation (PRN, azimuth, elevation, SNR) can be assigned and viewed;
* Dilution of precision factors (PDOP, HDOP, VDOP) can be assigned;
* 2D/3D selection mode can be changed (manual/automatic);
* Position fix mode can be selected (2d/3d/not defined);
* Support of other NMEA protocol messages: GGA, GLL, RMC, GSA, GSV, VTG;
* NMEA CRC of an expression can be calcutated;
* "Moving map" mode;
* Toggle between different NMEA-0183 releases (2.0-3.0);
* Packet data transmission mode (NMEA messages are grouped in packets. All messages in one packet are sent all at one time);
* Random data transmission mode (random NMEA message is generated);
* Send data through Bluetooth to other devices (currently only BlueSoleil driver is supported);
