| On the outside, this appears to be a godsend of an application. However, before downloading from Comodo's site, you have to give them FULL details (email address, postal address, etc). Why do they need this information? What is it used for? I can see no legitimate purpose for this. Secondly, this program does a simple job and should be far more compact. I'm an applications developer myself, and the functionality of this software could be compressed into 100k, so despite commercial software bloat this shouldn't be more than a meg or two. It is actually over 10 megabytes! Quite what the program is doing is unclear, but I'd be wary given these two issues. Try an open-source alternative. That way it is impossible for anything sinister to be hidden in the code.
Then again - it might be perfectly legitimate. Just remember though - the combination of your full postal details and full access to your email account is a VERY dangerous combination to give to the wrong party. Be careful. |
