MaxType LITE Typing Tutor is a free program that lets you test and improve your typing skills.
First of all, you are to select your keyboard layout and a text that you would like to use as the test material. The built-in library offers you some articles, lyrics and source codes in several programming languages. You can also use any other text saved in the txt format. The program analyzes texts and shows you relevant information such as the number of letters, numbers and symbols in a text.
Then you type the selected text and it gets highlighted as you make correct hits. The software also analyzes many aspects of your typing and displays current information. To assist you with your task and teach you the most effective way of typing, the program suggests the optimal position of your hands over the keyboard, as well as marks the key and the corresponding finger for each typed item.
When you are done, you are provided with the analysis of many parameters of your typing. For example, you can see your average speed and accuracy, or the speed, accuracy and frequent mistypes for each hand, etc. You can also generate a report that can be printed.
What's more, your typing gets recorded so that you can replay it or even compete against it later. |
