Type Access is one of the programs designed to save your time and make you more productive. The software lets you speed up text typing saving you the effort of typing frequently used phrases over and over again. You define abbreviations, or keywords, for phrases you commonly use, and later on the software automatically expands a keyword into the original text. So, it is very much like using hotkeys.
The program offers a variety of built-in phrases with keywords, mainly dealing with business correspondence. The keywords are sorted into thematic folders, such as thanks, greetings, closing phrases, etc. Of course you can add new keywords, add or delete folders and subfolders. Unfortunately, you don't seem to have an opportunity to change the keywords for phrases that already exist. For example, if you find that the keyword for 'I am sorry for the delay in responding to your inquiry' is too long all the same, and would like to change 'sordelay' for a still shorter 'sdel', you will not be able to edit the keyword without re-entering the entry.
The Tools | Settings option lets you specify how the program behaves on startup. The program window conveniently informs you whether keyword monitoring is enabled or disabled. Moreover, keyboard monitoring can be toggled on or off with a hotkey combination.
Type Access will be of interest for people who do a lot of business correspondence or form filling, especially for those who are prone to mistyping. |
