Editor review of Bullet Reader |

The software aims to increase your reading speed. It prompts you to begin by taking a test to estimate your current reading speed. Test results can be displayed in 4 different ways, including a 3D chart. To improve your reading speed, you are supposed to complete 34 drill sessions (reading exercises, as well as eye training drills and games). You can either follow the suggested syllabus or select yourself drills that you'd like to concentrate on. Reading drills do their job by displaying text fragments (words one by one or several words at a time) at high speed. The program adjusts its speed according to your test results, and keeps the difficulty level high enough to challenge you. There are also eye training exercises and games aimed at expanding your field of view and improving your concentration.
What we definitely liked is a good choice of texts for reading exercises. They are interesting enough to hold your attention and help motivate the process. Moreover, you can add new texts to the program to keep it fun (to learn how to do it, consult the help file). The only inconvenient thing about the program is that due to a rather complicated user management system, you have to login each time you start the program. On the whole, a very wide choice of drills and exercises to choose from make Bullet Reader a solid and serious tool that can teach you speed-reading. |
