Editor review of ACRobot |

No doubt many users would like to get rid of some of their computer chores by eliminating repetitive computer tasks. ACRobot offers quite a simple way to do this.
Designed to perform quite unsophisticated actions, like opening files or shutting down the computer, it controls the mouse and navigates the cursor as it has been determined by you.
To set the program to perform a task you need either to record the action to be performed (which is an easier option) or to create a script. After that you can determine some repeat options as well.
A major shortcoming of the program is that the cursor moves precisely at the determined speed and the mouse clicks the precisely determined places when running an action. It were all well and good but for the fact that in most cases the computer itself performs the same tasks differently. For instance, in our tests, the software never managed to create a new Word document through the right-click menu, because this menu was always displayed at a higher point on the desktop than when recording an action. Neither have we succeeded in launching a game application properly, because the application window was always placed a bit differently on the desktop.
However, despite these drawbacks, ACRobot, with its smart design and user-friendliness, could be a nice pick for many PC users. |
