Web Printer is a basic browser whose main function is extracting text from a web page. Actually the program displays a web page as it is in its main window, and extracts bare text to a small box beside it. The program does not boast a variety of options: you can adjust font size, and either save or print the extracted text. There are no flexible print options either: the software starts printing the document right away as soon as you click the Print Text button without giving you the usual print options dialog. Web Printer also removes almost all text formatting from the text together with images and links, so reading may not be too convenient.
Moreover, users should be warned that Web Printer will not extract text from heavily tagged pages. Actually, when testing the software we could never tell for sure whether or not it will perform its main task on this or that page. Even when two pages looked similar it worked well with the first and failed with the other. However, doing the software justice, we should say that it did extract text from the majority of the pages we viewed and it can make a very handy tool depending on your needs. The only advisable way is to download the trial and see if the software performs well with the pages you commonly view. The unregistered version is designed for 800x600 screen resolution but is fully functional.
